Matthew Webb (mtwebb) > The legs are a little long. Will cut them so table is at the proper height for typing on my powerbook since I do very little actual writing these days.
Matthew Webb (mtwebb) > Ty's table is on the left. He went with Cherry stain with a polyurethane finish. I went with boiled linseed oil. I still need to put a coat of paste wax on to really bring out the shine. I'll also put it out in the sun for a bit to darken the finish a bit.
Matthew Webb (mtwebb) > This year's project in the shop was a writing desk made out of cherry of course (My cousin Ty made one as well). Here we are sanding the tops down prior to finishing. As with most of these projects, the lion's share of the time is spent sanding; it seems like there is always more you can do. I'd down to 400 grit here and you can see the cherry is already taking on a nice sheen.
