Matthew Webb (mtwebb) > These were my travel companions: Jennifer, Arnaud, and his brother Etienne. It's hot and humid when we arrive (with the first typhoon just missing us) so a brief rest at a natural spring was just the thing (though to be honest the bubbles that came out where the people are gather in the back was...underwhelming :)
Matthew Webb (mtwebb) > Then we were off on our own. Jennifer's brother kindly let us use his SUV while he and his wife were off on their honeymoon. We headed south. Notable were the rows of giant windmills slowly turning in the background.
Matthew Webb (mtwebb) > Oh I do enjoy a nice, "non-poisonous" drink now and again.
Matthew Webb (mtwebb) > The rule of thumb for temple painting is the brighter, more saturated the colors, the better. I really liked how this railing was worn down to the wood through multiple coats of paint.
Matthew Webb (mtwebb) > At the top was a room with statue for the god of literature. Now that's a deity I can cheer for.
Matthew Webb (mtwebb) > Cool shop famous for it's hand painted lanterns. It was nice to see the man outside working on the next one as we wandered through.
Matthew Webb (mtwebb) > So many of the temples are covered in bright jarring colors, that this all natural one made a welcome change. This was in a garden outside the national museum which house a fantastic collection (from what I understand much of the treasures of china made up east into Taiwan, but never left )
Matthew Webb (mtwebb) > Next we stayed at this great bed and breakfast. It was clearly a labor of love of the two owners. The guy built all these great additions onto the house for guests, and we had a great dinner and breakfast there.
Matthew Webb (mtwebb) > Etienne and I opted to sleep up on the roof deck and we were greeted with this fantastic sunrise.
